Hello, I am Howard Gardner. How many of you are actually interested in becoming educators? Now let me tell you a bit about myself. I attended Harvard University, where I was tutored by Eric Erikson who in fact did "seal" my ambition to become a scholar. I studied history at Harvard University, which accredited a lot of my information to my theory of Multiple Intelligences. My study with Project Zero has led to studies with multiple intelligences with students, adults and organizations.
As future educators it is important for you all to understand that every mind that you will encounter... is different in way s of all learning capabilities, not just logically.
If we did all have the same sort of mind in the way we did think and act, we would have no problem during assessment's and preparation. Unfortunately everyone is unique in the way they tend to learn and think in the classroom.
The Multiple Intelligences are platforms of intelligences that give a general forum of what is needed in order for certain minds to learn and assess successfully.
  • Logical-mathematical- which is mostly known for those able to work comfortably with numbers and problem solving.
  • Linguistic- a lot of verbal and language used for memorizations such as speeches and lectures.
  • Spatial- is more a visual template, that gives the learner a picture or display for information
  • Musical- Using rhythms and patterns that involve a lot of music representation for learning.
  • Bodily kinesthetic- involves a lot of movement and hands on learning.
  • Interpersonal- meaning the learner is able to learn figuratively in groups to gain knowledge
  • Intrapersonal- meaning their learning is more observable, and personal, on their own.
The basis of the theory is to ensure that intelligence is not described as a one sided way for learners, but can be used and differentiated for all learners.

Here is the link to the study guide prezi for chapter four. This includes questions referencing from the text and relates to the importance of various different learning styles as well as Multimodal learning. This is a great review on the major concept that is in Chapter four and!

  • Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligence's has created a lot of research and experimental data to occur. The article describes a study that was done from physical educators to see what their terms of different variables. Howard Gardners theory is mainly to point out the obvious that there are different types of learners and this causes differentiated learning to be essential in the classroom when teaching with the multiple intelligence;

How Howard relates to psychology

Chapter four: page 120 Explains Howards development of his theory of intelligence. Concluding that there are several separate mental abilities and developed his now-famous theory of multiple intelligences that describes at least eight separate intelligences. He based his theory on a set of criteria that integrated a range of research in psychology. This continues the fact that intelligence is a process and a growth pattern that is very unique and different for each person in the world. (page 123)
A study was done on the theory of Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences.
